  • On BuzzFeed, the EFF’s Jillian York has an important post up pointing out that women like danah boyd, Rebecca MacKinnon, Zeynep Tufekci, Soraya Chemaly, Jaclyn Friedman and Danielle Citron pioneered today’s critique of Silicon Valley’s tech platforms, but “you wouldn’t know that based on who is getting the most airtime today: the same kind of Authoritative Men that have always seized the conversation once it became lucrative enough to take charge.”

  • Men behaving badly: Sallie Krawcheck, the CEO of Ellevest, details in The New York Times how women’s ideas and talent are discounted and ignored on Wall Street and in Silicon Valley, two places that she calls “perhaps the purest microcosms of capitalism.”

  • Life in Facebookistan: Here’s Siva Vaidhyanathan, author of a forthcoming book on the giant social network, speaking on NPR about the company’s efforts to stop fake news: “If Vladimir Putin had ordered a bunch of his favorite software engineers to design a propaganda system that would infiltrate the political environment of Ukraine and Poland and Hungary and even the United States, he could not have developed anything more effective than Facebook.”
