10Questions Update: Round Two Begins With a HuckaBang!

We’ve posted the top ten vote-getting videos, and they are:
1. Question for Pres Candidates About Net Neutrality (6392 net positive votes)
2. Is America unofficially a theocracy? (4993)
3. Medical Marijuana (4216)
4. Warrantless Wiretapping (3637)
5. Fair Elections Campaign Reform (2718)
6. Why won’t you pledge to abolish [corporate personhood] (1957)
7. Transparency (1948)
8. Is our voting system broken? (1850)
9. 10Questions: Size of Government (1789)
10. Two Party System Bad (1149)

You’ll note that Lunch4lyfe’s second question, “What about the *non* religious voters?” is not included, because he very graciously suggested that we drop it from the list, as it essentially duplicated his question about America and theocracy. That made room for “Two Party System Bad.” We’re very pleased by the diversity of topics generated and we’ll have a detailed report up shortly about the auditing of the votes, including some interesting info on how some people tried (and failed) to game the system.

Now it’s the candidates’ turn to post their answers, and for all of us to watch them and vote on whether or not they actually answer the questions. Woo-hoo! They’ve got from now until December 15 to do so, and voting on their answers will continue until December 31. The same rules apply: users get one vote on each video, per IP address, though if you change your mind you can change your vote.

One more piece of news: Republican candidate Mike Huckabee has already answered nine out of the top ten! The good folks at MSNBC, one of 10Questions’ leading cosponsors, had Huckabee in their newsroom this past Wednesday, and he agreed to spontaneously tape his answers to what were then the top ten questions on the site. (Since Patrick Ruffini’s question about the size of government didn’t surface until later in the day, they couldn’t present that one to Huckabee, but he of course can stlll add his reply.)

So you can start participating right now in viewing Huckabee’s answers and deciding whether you think he answered each person’s question.

We’re hard at work talking to all the campaigns to get their candidates on board, and we can use your help. So far, in addition to Huckabee, John Edwards and Ron Paul have also committed to participating in 10Questions. Please take a moment to email the other campaigns using our simple email form on the home page of the site–and if you are inclined to contact particular campaigns in other ways, go for it!

We’re going to be doing some tweaking of the site over the next few days. As always, if you have suggestions for improvement, please leave a comment!
